Description:
The passage tomb is described on Archaeology.ie as follows;
"Situated just S of the crest of the saddle between Lugnagun and Sorrel Hill. A circular cairn (diam. c. 9.5m) surrounded by a kerb of small boulders. The chamber is rectangular (dims. 1.2m x 0.75m; H 0.6m) and partly covered by a roofstone (dims. 1.8m x 1m; T 0.2m), with a possible recess opening off it. The remains of a short passage lead from the kerb to the chamber from the WSW side. (Herity 1974, 258)."
I came across this alignment in 2016 with the publication of Dr Frank Prendergast's paper 'Interpreting megalithic tomb orientations and siting within broader cultural contexts' Dr Prendergast uses a statistical analysis of all the passage tombs in Ireland to conclude that 24 of them have significant astronomical alignments
