Description:

The passage tomb is described on ehsni.gov.uk as follows

"On top of a wide flat ridge with fine views N, but moderate elsewhere. The site consists of a low, roughly circular cairn with trees growing on it. The cairn is 12m x 13m diam. & 0.7m high. Off centre towards the SE of the cairn is a chamber. It consists of a basalt capstone, presently set at the level of the cairn's surface supported by 7 closely fitted rectangular uprights enclosing a septagonal chamber. The chamber is below ground level & is open & filled with modern rubbish. The chamber is 1.2m deep & the capstone is 1.8m x 1.1m x 0.4m thick."

I came across this alignment in 2016 with the publication of Dr Frank Prendergast's paper 'Interpreting megalithic tomb orientations and siting within broader cultural contexts'  Dr Prendergast uses a statistical analysis of all the passage tombs in Ireland to conclude that 24 of them have significant astronomical alignments.
